The Karachi campus of the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Sciences and Technology (FUUAST) is the university’s principal base in Sindh. FUUAST is a federal public-sector university created in 2002 to promote Urdu as a medium of higher education; its Karachi operations run from the main campus in Gulshan-e-Iqbal and the historic Abdul Haq Campus, with a third campus in Islamabad.
About the Campus
FUUAST Karachi consists of two sites. The main campus is at the MSC Block, Block 9, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Karachi 75300, which is the address the university publishes for correspondence. The Abdul Haq Campus, named after Baba-e-Urdu Maulvi Abdul Haq, is the older site linked to the Anjuman Taraqqi-e-Urdu tradition. The official site lists both but does not state which faculties sit at which site, so confirm the location of your department before visiting.
According to the official university website, FUUAST has seven faculties: Arts (Arabic, English, General History, International Relations, Islamic History, Mass Communication, Political Science, Pakistan Studies, Psychology, Social Work, Sindhi, Urdu); Education (Education, Special Education, Teacher Education); Business Administration, Commerce and Economics; Law; Pharmacy (Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacology, Pharmacognosy); Science and Technology (Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Botany, Chemistry, Computer Science, Environmental Science, Geography, Geology, Mathematics, Microbiology, Physics, Statistics, Zoology); and Islamic Studies. Most of these departments are based in Karachi.
