BS Islamic Studies at the National University of Modern Languages is a four-year undergraduate program of the Department of Islamic Thought and Culture, offered at the Islamabad main campus and at the Lahore, Multan and Karachi campuses.
Program Overview
BS Islamic Studies at NUML is taught by the Department of Islamic Thought and Culture. The four-year program covers Quranic studies and tafsir, hadith and its sciences, fiqh and usul al-fiqh, seerah, Islamic history and civilisation, comparative religion, Islamic economics and contemporary issues, along with Arabic language courses and research methods. NUML’s language focus means Arabic is taught seriously rather than as a token subject.
The program suits students from a madrasa or humanities background who want a university degree in religious studies, future teachers of Islamiyat, and anyone preparing for CSS/PMS where Islamic studies is a compulsory paper. It also lays a base for MPhil and PhD work in Islamic thought.
