Explore BS Artificial Intelligence – National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences at National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences, including duration, eligibility and connected admission resources.
Eligibility requirements
FAST-NUCES current computing eligibility: minimum 60% SSC, minimum 50% HSSC/equivalent, Mathematics at HSSC/equivalent level. Pre-medical applicants are eligible where the stated additional Mathematics condition is met.
BS Artificial Intelligence at the National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences profile (FAST-NUCES) is a four-year, eight-semester programme of at least 134 credit hours run by the FAST School of Computing. The university lists six campuses – Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Chiniot-Faisalabad and Multan – and BS AI appears on the official degree programmes list; campus-wise availability should be confirmed with the admissions office.
Program Overview
The official page frames the degree around both theory and hands-on skill for AI careers: a computing core, specialisation in artificial intelligence, and an emphasis on applying AI within a code of ethics. Graduates are expected to work as machine learning engineers, data engineers, AI developers, project managers or in risk and reporting roles. Source: FAST-NUCES BS(AI) page. Coursework builds from programming and mathematics through machine learning, deep learning, computer vision and natural language processing to a final year project, and the FAST environment adds coding competitions and industry-linked projects. It suits students who are strong in mathematics and want a specialised AI degree from an institution employers already trust for computing.

Eligibility Criteria
For all BS computing programmes, including BS Artificial Intelligence, FAST-NUCES requires at least 60% marks in Matric or equivalent and at least 50% in HSSC or equivalent, with Mathematics studied at intermediate level; Pre-Medical students who have passed (or are awaiting) additional Mathematics are eligible, as are candidates awaiting HSSC results. Applicants choose one test route: the FAST-NUCES admission test, SAT, or NTS NAT-IE/NAT-ICS. Source: https://nu.edu.pk/Admissions/EligibilityCriteria.
Admission Process
- Apply online through the FAST-NUCES admissions site during the application window (tentatively 20 May to 30 June for the 2026 cycle, per the official schedule).
- Pay the Rs. 3,000 applicant admission fee and select your campus preferences.
- Appear in the NU admission test (held 29 June to 10 July in the 2026 schedule) or submit a valid SAT or NTS NAT score instead.
- Check the merit list (22 July in the 2026 schedule) and complete admission formalities between 27 July and 13 August.
- Pay the admission fee and security deposit; classes started on 17 August in the 2026 calendar.
Merit is computed as admission test 50%, HSSC 40% and SSC 10%, with the cut-off set by the university each year. Source: FAST-NUCES eligibility criteria. The schedule page is marked tentative, so confirm the 2027 dates there. Our FAST-NUCES entry test page describes the NU test format.
Fee Structure
For the academic year 2026-27 (effective Fall 2026) FAST-NUCES charges Rs. 12,000 per credit hour for BS programmes, a one-time admission fee of Rs. 30,000, a refundable security deposit of Rs. 20,000 and a Student Activities Fund contribution of Rs. 2,500 per semester; the applicant admission (application) fee is Rs. 3,000. A typical 15-18 credit semester therefore costs roughly Rs. 180,000-216,000 in tuition. Source: https://www.nu.edu.pk/Admissions/FeeStructure. Merit scholarships and need-based financial assistance are offered through the university; see our scholarships archive.
Career Scope in Pakistan
A FAST AI graduate competes for machine learning engineer, data scientist, computer vision and NLP developer roles with fintech, e-commerce, telecom and AI-focused export start-ups, and the FAST name shortens the path to interviews. International remote work, research positions and MS admissions abroad are common next steps, as is founding a start-up with classmates. The field moves quickly, so a record of deployed models and competition results carries as much weight as grades.
