University of Karachi Undergraduate Admissions 2026-27

University: University of Karachi

Closing Date 2026-10-24

Admission Information

This admission record covers undergraduate (Bachelor and BS) admissions at the University of Karachi for the 2026-27 academic cycle. The University of Karachi (UoK) runs a single annual intake for its Bachelor programs; the admission campaign that the university labels “Admissions 2027” is the one students completing intermediate in 2026 apply to. All applications are submitted online through the official admission portal at uokadmission.edu.pk, and the Directorate of Admissions publishes the schedule, prospectus and advertisement on uok.edu.pk/admissions.

UoK is one of the largest public universities in Pakistan, with more than 50 departments across faculties of Arts and Social Sciences, Science, Management and Administrative Sciences, Pharmacy, Engineering, Islamic Studies, Law and Education. Because the campaign is so broad, the university splits undergraduate admission into two tracks: Open Merit Admissions (based on intermediate marks) and Test-Based Admissions (for departments that require an entrance test, such as the Doctor of Pharmacy and Visual Studies programs).

Admission Schedule

The official schedule for Admissions 2027 is published on the admissions page as an image, so exact dates could not be verified in text form while preparing this record. The university has also issued a “Date Extended for Submission of Form” notice, which means the original deadline was pushed back. Always read the latest schedule image on the portal before relying on any date.

Programs Open for Admission

Undergraduate admission at UoK is offered under the following groups, as listed on the official admissions page:

  • Open Merit Admissions – the majority of BS and Bachelor programs in the Faculties of Arts and Social Sciences, Science, Management and Administrative Sciences, Islamic Studies, Education and Law
  • Test-Based Admissions – departments that hold a BS-level written test; the university publishes a test paper structure and a sample paper for these
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm-D) – separate prospectus, advertisement and sample test paper
  • Visual Studies – separate prospectus and advertisement for the 2027 intake

The portal has an eligibility checker at uokadmission.edu.pk that lists every department you qualify for once you enter your intermediate group and marks. Use it rather than guessing which departments accept your stream.

Eligibility Criteria

The university sets department-wise eligibility in its prospectus, and the criteria differ by faculty: science departments normally require the Pre-Medical, Pre-Engineering or General Science group, while arts, commerce and social science departments accept Humanities and Commerce groups. Minimum percentage requirements are not listed on the admission page itself, so check the prospectus or the eligibility checker on the portal for the exact percentage needed for your department. Applicants with foreign nationality must apply through their embassy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad under the Foreign Students Policy.

How to Apply

  1. Create an account on the admission portal at uokadmission.edu.pk following the official “portal creation” guidelines for 2027.
  2. Fill in your personal, matric and intermediate details and run the eligibility checker to see the departments available to you.
  3. Select your department preferences in order of priority (open merit) or apply separately for test-based departments.
  4. Pay the admission processing fee through the method shown on the portal, then upload the receipt or confirmation.
  5. Submit the form before the (extended) deadline and keep a printed copy.
  6. For test-based departments, download the admit card and appear for the test on the announced date.
  7. Check the merit lists on the portal, then complete document verification and fee payment at the department within the given days.

Entry Test and Merit

Most UoK Bachelor programs admit on open merit, where the merit is calculated from intermediate marks and the department-wise merit position. Test-based departments conduct a BS-level written test whose structure and sample paper are posted on the admissions page. Weightage of the test versus academic marks is given in the prospectus and was not verified for this record. Read our University of Karachi entry test guide for preparation tips, and browse all entry tests on the site.

Fee and Scholarships

UoK keeps a dedicated Semester Fee page on its website, but the figures are not reproduced on the admissions page, so fee amounts could not be verified for this record – check the official website for the current semester fee of your department. As a public-sector university, UoK charges significantly lower tuition than private institutions in Karachi. Need-based support is available through HEC and provincial schemes; see our scholarships archive for options open to Sindh students.
