Step-by-Step Admission Process
BUITEMS uses an online admission system followed by a physical document submission. The steps are simple, but missing any one of them can cancel your application.
- Step 1: Create an account on the Online Admission System at oas.buitms.edu.pk and fill in your personal and academic details.
- Step 2: Pay the processing fee. The fee is Rs 2,500 if you apply online and Rs 2,000 for a manual application.
- Step 3: Choose your programs in order of preference. Read the eligibility of each program before selecting it.
- Step 4: Register for the admission test (details in the next section).
- Step 5: Submit a hard copy of your application form along with attested copies of your documents to the admission office before the deadline.
- Step 6: Check merit lists on the university website and complete fee payment within the given dates if selected.
The main intake is the Fall semester. As a reference point, the Fall 2025 application deadline was 20 August 2025. Dates change every year, so always confirm the current deadline on the official website before applying. Our admissions section tracks announcements across Pakistani universities.
NTS Test and Other Entry Tests
BUITEMS does not conduct its own general entry test. Instead, it accepts the NTS NAT (National Aptitude Test) as the main admission test for most undergraduate programs. For some programs, the HEC HAT (Higher Education Commission Aptitude Test) is also accepted. If you are applying for LLB, you must have a valid LAT (Law Admission Test) score, which is the national requirement for law admissions in Pakistan.
Some programs require an additional skill-based test in addition to NAT or HAT:
- Engineering programs: aptitude test
- Architecture: aptitude and drawing test
- Fashion Design and Textile Design: drawing or portfolio-style test
- Fine Arts: drawing test
Because NAT is held several times a year, it is wise to attempt it early so that your result is ready before the BUITEMS deadline. Learn more about test formats on our entry tests page.
How Merit Is Calculated
Admission at BUITEMS is merit-based. Merit is built from three parts: your Matric (SSC) marks, your Intermediate (HSSC) or equivalent marks, and your admission test score. The university has not published the exact percentage weight for each part, so we cannot give you a formula here. A strong Intermediate result combined with a good NAT score gives you the best chance. You can estimate your general standing with our merit calculator, but remember that it uses common weightings, not BUITEMS-specific ones.
The Foundation Semester Explained
One feature that makes BUITEMS different from many other universities is the foundation semester. Every new undergraduate student completes a foundation semester before moving into the regular degree courses. The idea is to bring students from different boards and school backgrounds to a common level in subjects like English, mathematics and basic computing, and to build study skills needed for university work.
For students coming from smaller towns in Balochistan, this semester is often a helpful bridge. Keep in mind that the foundation semester is part of your program timeline and has its own fee, which is why the first semester fee at BUITEMS is higher than the following semesters.
Fee Structure
BUITEMS publishes its fee structure for regular (merit) and self-support seats. The figures below are from the latest published schedule and may be revised, so confirm on the official website before paying.
| Program group | First semester | Each later semester |
|---|---|---|
| Engineering, ICT, Architecture, Law, Business, Data Science (regular) | Rs 82,700 | Rs 53,415 |
| Sciences, Social Sciences, Education (regular) | Rs 69,175 | Rs 44,410 |
| Self-support seats (all groups) | Rs 104,225 to 148,385 per semester | |
Students with financial need should ask the university about need-based support and also explore national programs listed on our scholarships page.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I apply to BUITEMS without an NTS score?
For most programs you need a valid NAT score, though HAT is accepted for some programs and LAT is required for LLB. Check the program list in the official admission notice to see which test applies to your choice.
Is the foundation semester compulsory for everyone?
Yes. All new undergraduate students at BUITEMS complete a foundation semester before starting their regular degree courses.
What is the difference between regular and self-support seats?
Regular seats are filled on open merit at the standard fee. Self-support seats have a higher fee and usually a slightly lower merit cut-off, giving a second chance to students who miss the regular list.
