Jhelum, a district on the GT Road in northern Punjab with a strong military and overseas-worker community, is served by the Virtual University of Pakistan’s campus network. VU, headquartered in Lahore, was set up by the federal government in 2002 as a public, HEC-recognised online university with support campuses in well over a hundred cities. About the Campus
Many families in Jhelum have members working abroad or serving in the armed forces, and VU’s online model is a good fit for students who need flexibility or may move during their studies. The campus also serves nearby areas such as Dina, Sohawa and Pind Dadan Khan.
VU is a federally chartered public university built for online education. Faculty record lectures that are streamed through the LMS and broadcast on VU’s TV channels; students interact with tutors through discussion boards. City campuses are not teaching colleges – they provide labs, admission support and exam logistics.

Admissions at this Campus
All admissions are processed centrally by VU’s Admission Section in Lahore. Applicants from Jhelum apply online at vu.edu.pk/apply, selecting a local campus on the form; the campus then serves as their base for lab access and examinations. VU warns applicants to pay the processing fee and semester dues only through its official banking channels. Admission sessions open twice a year, in Fall and Spring. Facilities
VU’s official pages do not publish facility details for each individual campus. In general, a VU campus or PVC is expected to provide a computer lab with internet access for watching lectures and attempting online assessments, a notice board, and staff for admission and examination support. Hostels are not part of the VU model; confirm what the Jhelum campus offers before relying on it.
