Rawalpindi Campus – VU

Virtual University of Pakistan campus in Rawalpindi, Punjab: how VU's online model works, programs, central admission process and official campus...

Rawalpindi sits next to the federal capital and is one of the biggest urban centres in northern Punjab, so it is a natural location for Virtual University of Pakistan campuses. VU, headquartered in Lahore, was set up by the federal government in 2002 as a public, HEC-recognised online university with support campuses in well over a hundred cities. This page explains how the model works in Rawalpindi (Punjab).

About the Campus

Many VU students in the Rawalpindi area are employed, serving in the armed forces, or living in the twin cities for work, and they study VU’s online BS and associate degree programs alongside their jobs. The Rawalpindi campuses also act as a convenient point for learners from Attock, Chakwal and the surrounding districts.

The Virtual University runs on a distance-learning model: recorded lectures on the VU LMS, television broadcasts and moderated discussion boards. The local campus provides the practical back-up – an internet-connected lab, a notice board listing admitted students, and staff who help with forms, fee challans and exams.

The official campus directory on the VU website (vu.edu.pk/pvcs) lists both VU-managed campuses and affiliated Private Virtual Campuses (PVCs) by province and city. A PVC is a private institution that has partnered with VU to host its students; it is supervised by the university but is not a VU-owned building. Check the directory for the current Rawalpindi addresses.

Programs Offered at this Campus

Because VU teaches online, the program list does not vary by campus. A student registered through a Rawalpindi campus can choose any program from VU’s official list, which is organised under five faculties (source: vu.edu.pk admission procedure page):

  • Computer Science & IT: BSCS, BSSE, BSIT, BS Data Science and associate degrees
  • Management: BBA, BS Accounting & Finance, BS Commerce, BS Public Administration, BBIT
  • Arts: BS Economics, BS English, BS Islamic Studies, BS Mass Communication, BS Psychology, BS Sociology
  • Education: B.Ed. (Hons) Elementary and Early Childhood, B.Ed. 1.5 and 2.5 year
  • Science & Technology: BS Mathematics, BS Statistics, BS Bioinformatics, BS Biotechnology, BS Zoology

Admissions at this Campus

VU does not run separate admissions for each city. Applications for all programs are submitted through the single online portal (vu.edu.pk/apply), where you register with your CNIC or B-Form, upload your academic documents and pick the campus you want to be attached to. Fees are paid only through VU’s designated bank challans, never to a campus or PVC representative, as the official admission regulations make clear. The Rawalpindi campus will display the list of admitted students on its notice board. See our VU Undergraduate Admissions 2026-27 page for the dates and steps.

Facilities

Facility details vary from campus to campus and are not listed on the VU website. Typically a campus provides internet-connected computer labs, space for watching recorded lectures, help with LMS registration and the venue for mid-term and final examinations. Hostels and sports facilities are generally not offered; ask the Rawalpindi campus directly.
