BS Computer Science at Bahauddin Zakariya University profile (BZU) is a four-year undergraduate degree of the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Science, on the Bosan Road campus in Multan. It is the main computing degree for students of southern Punjab and is offered in morning and evening sessions.

Program Overview

The department describes its degree as one that stresses underlying principles – algorithms, data structures, computer architecture, operating systems, databases, networks and software engineering – rather than tools that date quickly, and backs teaching with five computer laboratories and a Computing Research and Development Centre equipped with server and multicore machines. The programme suits students from Multan, Vehari, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh and neighbouring districts who want a public-university computing degree close to home, with MS and PhD routes in the same department.

BZU runs a Scholarship Cell and processes the Punjab Honhaar undergraduate scholarship; see our scholarships archive.

Career Scope in Pakistan

Multan’s software sector is smaller than Lahore’s but growing, with software houses, the Multan Software Technology Park and freelance communities absorbing BZU computer science graduates, alongside banks, telecom franchises, colleges and the agriculture and textile businesses of the region that increasingly need in-house developers. Many graduates move to Lahore or Karachi for product-company roles, work remotely for foreign clients or continue to MS CS at BZU.
