Lahore College for Women University runs a four-year BS Environmental Science program for women at its main campus in Lahore. The official Fall 2026 admission notice lists it under the Faculty of Science and Technology with regular and self-support seats.

Program Overview

Environmental Science is interdisciplinary: it combines biology, chemistry, earth science and policy to study pollution, climate change, water and waste management, biodiversity and sustainable development. Courses typically include environmental chemistry, ecology, hydrology, environmental impact assessment (EIA), GIS and remote sensing, environmental law and solid waste management, supported by field surveys and lab analysis.

The program is suited to students from Pre-Medical or Pre-Engineering backgrounds who care about Pakistan’s environmental challenges – smog in Lahore, water scarcity, flooding – and want a career that blends science with policy and fieldwork.

Career Scope in Pakistan

Environmental science graduates in Pakistan work with the Environmental Protection Agencies (federal and provincial), environmental consultancies that prepare EIA reports, industrial HSE departments, NGOs and international bodies working on climate and water, and research institutes. Demand has grown with stricter environmental regulation and climate-finance projects, although many positions require an M.Phil. or professional certifications in HSE.
