BS Computer Science – Lahore University of Management Sciences

The BS Computer Science at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) is a four-year, 130 credit hour degree taught by the Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering (SBASSE) on the LUMS campus in DHA, Lahore. LUMS is a private, not-for-profit university and its CS program is among the most selective undergraduate computing degrees in Pakistan.

Program Overview

SBASSE’s CS curriculum combines a rigorous core (programming, discrete mathematics, data structures, algorithms, computer architecture, operating systems, networks, databases, software engineering) with a liberal core shared across LUMS and a wide elective choice in machine learning, systems, security, graphics and computational science, plus a senior project. The teaching model is research-intensive and English-medium with small sections. Eligibility Criteria

For completed Higher Secondary applicants LUMS requires at least 75% in both Matric and FSc/ICS; O-Level applicants need eight subjects including Mathematics with a B average, and A-Level applicants three full-credit subjects averaging three Bs. American High School Diploma (75% or GPA B), IB-MYP (38 of 56) and IBDP (29 of 45) routes are also listed. SBASSE applicants must take the SAT, ACT or the LUMS Common Admission Test (LCAT); there is no minimum SAT/ACT score. For Fall 2027, the SAT deadline is 6 March 2027, the ACT deadline 10 April 2027 and the LCAT is tentatively 21 March 2027. Source: official program page.

Admission Process

1. Submit the online application at admission.lums.edu.pk (Fall 2027 deadline: 20 January 2027, 5:00 pm PKT) and pay the Rs 12,500 processing fee (USD 220 for international applicants).
2. Upload supporting documents by 21 January 2027 and apply for financial aid by 22 February 2027 if needed.
3. Register for the SAT or ACT and send scores to LUMS, or sit the LCAT (paper-based, four 40-minute sections).
4. Receive the admission decision; classes for the Fall 2027 cohort begin in September 2027.

Fee Structure

The official page gives the first-year fee for FY 2026-27 as Rs 2,182,200: admission fee Rs 176,600, tuition Rs 1,557,200 (Rs 824,400 Fall and Rs 732,800 Spring, at Rs 45,800 per credit hour for 34 credit hours), SBASSE fee Rs 269,200, semester registration Rs 112,200 and a general security deposit of Rs 67,000. Career Scope in Pakistan

LUMS CS graduates are heavily recruited by Pakistan’s largest software exporters, fintech and e-commerce companies, management consultancies and startups, often into software engineering, product management, data science and quantitative roles, and a significant share go abroad to graduate school or to multinational technology firms.
