The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Peshawar is the leading public engineering university of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Admission is competitive and runs through the ETEA engineering entrance test, so students need to understand both the test and the eligibility rules well in advance. This guide covers everything from the test registration to campus choices. For a quick profile, visit our UET Peshawar page.

UET Peshawar in Brief

The institution started as an engineering college and was granted full university status in 1980. It is a public sector university and has expanded beyond its main campus in Peshawar to several other locations in the province. Its degrees are recognized by the Pakistan Engineering Council and the Higher Education Commission.

  • Type: Public
  • University status: 1980
  • Campuses: Peshawar (main), Jalozai (Nowshera), Abbottabad, Bannu
  • Admission test: ETEA Engineering Entrance Test

Programs Offered

UET Peshawar offers a wide set of undergraduate programs across its campuses. The main ones are:

  • Civil Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering, with specializations in Computing and AI, Power, and Communication
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Mechatronics Engineering
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Industrial Engineering
  • Computer Systems Engineering
  • Software Engineering
  • Computer Science
  • Electronics Engineering
  • Agricultural Engineering
  • Mining Engineering
  • Energy Engineering
  • Architecture
  • Interior Design
  • BS Mathematics (Artificial Intelligence)

Programs are distributed across campuses, so when you fill in preferences you are choosing both a discipline and a location. The official UG Prospectus 2026-27 lists which program runs at which campus.

Eligibility Rules You Must Know

Two rules trip up many applicants, so read them carefully.

The 60 percent rule. To be admitted, you need more than 60 percent unadjusted marks in Intermediate (FSc Pre-Engineering or equivalent such as DAE in a relevant technology). Unadjusted means the marks as shown on your result card, before any adjustment formula is applied. If you score below this line, a good test score alone will not qualify you.

Who can sit the test. You do not need your final result in hand to appear in the ETEA test. Students who have passed Intermediate Part-I, those appearing in Part-II, and students awaiting their FSc or DAE results can all register and take the test. The final admission is confirmed only when your complete result meets the eligibility rule.

The CS Section Option

For students who studied Computer Science instead of Chemistry

Many Intermediate students now take the Physics, Mathematics and Computer Science combination (ICS with Physics) instead of the traditional pre-engineering group with Chemistry. UET Peshawar accommodates these students through a Computer Science section of the entrance test. If you choose this option, you answer Computer Science questions in place of Chemistry, and you become eligible for computing-related programs such as Computer Systems Engineering and Software Engineering. Core engineering programs that require Chemistry remain limited to pre-engineering candidates. Pick the section carefully during registration, because it decides which programs you can be considered for.

How to Apply Through ETEA

  • Go to www.enggentrancetest.pk when registration opens, usually in the summer after the Intermediate exams.
  • Create your profile, enter your academic details and choose the test section (Pre-Engineering or Computer Science).
  • Pay the test fee through the method shown on the site and print your roll number slip.
  • Appear in the ETEA test at your assigned center on the given date.
  • After the result, follow the UET Peshawar admission notice to submit your program and campus preferences and the required documents.

Merit is prepared from your academic record and your ETEA score. The exact formula and any reserved seat categories are published in the official prospectus each year. You can review the general pattern of ETEA alongside other tests on our entry tests page and get a rough idea of your standing with the merit calculator.

When ranking campuses in your preference list, think about hostel availability, travel distance from home and which programs are offered at each site.

Fee Structure

UET Peshawar publishes its fee details in the UG Prospectus 2026-27. Because fees are revised and differ between regular and self-finance seats, we do not list amounts here. Download the current prospectus from the university website and read the fee section before you accept a seat. For financial support options, including HEC and provincial programs, see our scholarships page.

Frequently Asked Questions
