Most arts, social science and life science programs require FA/F.Sc. or equivalent with at least 45% (second division). BS English, Microbiology, Human Nutrition and Dietetics, and the engineering technology programs require 50%; BS Medical Lab Technology requires 55%; BS Mining Engineering and BS Civil Engineering require 60% in F.Sc. Pre-Engineering/Pre-Medical (or relevant DAE). Mathematics and Statistics programs need Mathematics or Statistics at Intermediate with 45%.
Candidates with a third division in FA/F.Sc. are not eligible for any program. Result-awaiting students may apply.
How to Apply
- Open the admissions portal (admissions.kiu.edu.pk), create an account and choose the campus and program.
- Fill the online form and upload scanned academic documents, CNIC/B-Form and photograph.
- Submit the form, then deposit the Rs. 1,500 processing fee at any HBL branch using the generated challan.
- Check the merit list and interview schedule announced on the portal; appear for the KIU admission test if your program (e.g. Mining Engineering) requires it.
- Selected candidates pay the semester fee within the deadline and complete registration at the campus.
Entry Test and Merit
KIU does not hold a general entry test for BS programs; admission is on academic merit from Intermediate marks, with interviews for some programs. The official pages mention a KIU admission test only for BS Mining Engineering (and ‘as applicable’ for engineering programs). The merit formula and any test weightage are not published on the eligibility page – confirm on the portal. See our KIU entry test page for updates.
Fee and Scholarships
The admissions portal’s fee structure page (source) lists a single fee figure per program, for example Rs. 39,500 for BS Mining Engineering, Rs. 33,830 for BS Software Engineering, Rs. 31,770 for BS Computer Science and IT, Rs. 21,070 for BS Chemistry and Physics, and Rs. 20,370 for BBA, BS Economics, BS English, BS Mathematics, BS Sociology and several others. The page does not state whether these are per-semester totals or the session they apply to, and the Hunza campus separately lists Rs. 40,720 per semester for BS Development Studies, so confirm the current schedule with the admissions office before budgeting.
KIU offers merit- and need-based scholarships, cash rewards for toppers and sibling fee discounts, administered through scholarships.kiu.edu.pk. Browse our scholarships archive too.
