The Hunza Campus of Karakoram International University (KIU) is a sub-campus of Gilgit-Baltistan’s first public university, located in Hunza district north of Gilgit. KIU’s main campus is in Gilgit city; the Hunza campus has its own website (hunza.kiu.edu.pk) and a campus director, and offers BS and MS programs to students of Hunza and neighbouring Nagar.
About the Campus
Hunza is one of Pakistan’s best-known tourist valleys, with high literacy rates and a strong tradition of community-run schooling. A university campus in the district lets local students – a large share of them women – study for a degree without moving to Gilgit, Islamabad or Karachi. The campus website lists Dr. Rehmat Karim as Campus Director.
According to the official campus site, the Hunza Campus has four academic departments: Management Science, Development Studies, Tourism and Hospitality Management, and Computer Sciences. The Tourism and Hospitality department is a natural fit for the valley’s economy, while Development Studies reflects the region’s many NGO and community-development organisations. The establishment year of the campus is not stated on the official site.

Admissions at this Campus
KIU runs admissions through its central portal at admissions.kiu.edu.pk, but the Hunza campus publishes its own admission notices. For Fall 2026 the campus notice advertised BS and MS admissions with a deadline of 1 September 2026, and stated that result-awaiting students could apply. The processing fee for KIU BS admissions is Rs. 1,500, paid at HBL. Eligibility follows the KIU Fall 2026 criteria (generally 45-50% in FA/F.Sc., with third division not eligible). Facilities
The official campus site lists a Freelancing Hub, an HEC Smart Classroom, computer labs, a library and transport facilities. Hostel information is not given on the campus site; ask the campus office.
