Rahim Yar Khan Campus - IUB

The Rahim Yar Khan Campus of The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) is a sub-campus located on Abu Dhabi Road in Rahim Yar Khan, the southernmost district of Punjab. According to the campus website, it was established in 2005 and is spread over about 80 acres, making it one of the largest university campuses in the Bahawalpur division outside the main city.

About the Campus

Rahim Yar Khan is a fast-growing commercial city on the Karachi-Lahore corridor, close to the Sindh border, with a large agricultural and sugar-industry base. Before 2005 students from the district had to travel to Bahawalpur or Multan for a university degree; the IUB sub-campus changed that and now draws students from Sadiqabad, Khanpur, Liaquatpur and nearby Sindh districts.

The official campus site (ryk.iub.edu.pk) describes 22 teaching departments offering more than 44 undergraduate and postgraduate programs in computing, natural sciences, business management, economics, humanities, arts and languages. The campus runs under IUB’s statutes, so degrees are awarded by the parent university in Bahawalpur, and the parent university is a public-sector institution whose roots go back to Jamia Abbasia (1925), upgraded to university status in 1975.

Admissions at this Campus

Admission to all IUB campuses, including Rahim Yar Khan, is handled centrally through the university’s online admission portal. Applicants select the campus and program on the same form; merit lists are published campus-wise on eportal.iub.edu.pk/meritlists. Eligibility for most BS programs is based on FA/F.Sc. marks, with some science and engineering programs also requiring a test (NAT, ECAT, MDCAT or the IUB test). Facilities

IUB states on its main site that male and female student hostels are available at all of its campuses. The Rahim Yar Khan campus site refers to campus facilities, sports and residential/hostel facilities but gives no detail; cricket events at the H.H. Sheikh Khalifa Sports Complex in the city are mentioned in campus news. Check with the campus for hostel capacity and transport.
