NUTECH Entry Test 2026-27
About This Entry Test
The NUTECH Entry Test, usually written as NUET, is the gateway to every undergraduate program at the National University of Technology, Islamabad. It is unusual in that the university holds four sittings per cycle, so a weak first attempt is not the end of the road. This page sets out the official 2026-27 schedule, eligibility and weightage. For the broader picture read the NUTECH university profile.
Which Test Is Required
All BS Engineering programs (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, Industrial), all BS computing programs (CS, SE, AI, IT, Cyber Security, Data Science) and BET (Civil) require NUET. The official page lists no NTS, ECAT or HEC-HAT alternative for Pakistani applicants; international students may use SAT subject scores in place of NUET.
Test Pattern
The admissions page provides sample papers for Pre-Engineering, Computer Science and Pre-Medical/DAE streams but does not print the section breakdown. Source: https://nutech.edu.pk/admissions/.

Merit Formula
Official weightage: NUET 70% + HSSC/A-Level/DAE 20% + SSC/O-Level 10%. The best score across the sittings you attempt is used.
Preparation Tips
- Download the official sample paper for your stream first; it shows the question style better than any guess.
- Because NUET is 70% of merit, give it the bulk of your preparation time rather than relying on board marks.
- Sit NUET-1 or NUET-2 early, then use later sittings to improve — only your best score counts.
- Pre-medical and DAE candidates should brush up Mathematics, which is the usual weak spot.
- Aim for the 90th percentile or above: it unlocks the second- and third-place tuition waivers.
