SMIU Entry Test 2026-27

Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) Karachi selects undergraduate students through its own computer-based admission test and an interview. This page explains who must take the test, what the official pages say about it, eligibility, registration and schedule. Which Test Is Required

All undergraduate applicants (BS, BBA, B.Ed 4-year) sit SMIU’s own on-campus, computer-based admission test, followed by an interview for shortlisted candidates. Applicants with a valid NTS NAT (or GAT) score are exempt from the test (Source). Graduate and postgraduate applicants do not sit the SMIU test but must submit NTS results. SMIU does not use ECAT, ETEA, HEC HAT or MDCAT for undergraduate entry.

Test Pattern

A sample test paper is released to approved applicants on the admission portal along with the admit card. The official pages we reviewed do not publish the section split or marks.

Eligibility

Minimum marks in intermediate (or equivalent) per the official minimum-criteria page (Source):

• BS Computer Science (morning) 60%; BS Software Engineering 55%; evening sections of both 50%.
• BS Artificial Intelligence, IT, Cyber Security, Data Science, Mathematics, Accounting & Finance, Media Studies and BBA 4-year: 50%.
• BS Environmental Sciences, Climate Change, Food Science, Banking & Finance, Public Administration, Commerce, Economics, Entrepreneurship, English, Education and B.Ed: 45%.
• BS Sociology and BS Development Studies: pass marks.
• BBA 2-year and B.Ed 2.5-year require a 14-year degree; B.Ed 1.5-year requires 16 years of education.

Registration and Fee

Create an account on admission.smiu.edu.pk using your CNIC, fill the form, download the application-processing-fee voucher, pay it at any HBL branch and upload the paid challan with SSC and HSC marksheets. After departmental scrutiny you can download the admit card, prospectus and sample paper (Source). The fee amount is shown on the voucher — check the official website.

Schedule

Fall 2026: registration 14 June to 15 July 2026, admit cards 17 July, undergraduate test 21-23 July, interviews 28-30 July, first merit list 7 August (Source). SMIU has previously opened a Spring intake in December with tests in early January; whether Spring 2027 admissions will be announced should be checked on the official website.

Merit Formula

SMIU’s merit combines academic record, test and interview, but the weightage is not published on the pages we verified. Check the prospectus or the admission schedule page for the formula.

Preparation Tips

• Study the sample paper released on the portal — it is the only official indication of the section mix.
• Revise core English (grammar, comprehension, vocabulary) and quantitative reasoning; computing applicants should also review intermediate mathematics.
• If you already hold a strong NTS NAT score, upload it to claim the exemption and focus on the interview instead.
• Practise on a computer under time limits so the on-screen format does not slow you down.
• Prepare a short, honest answer about why you chose your programme — interviews count toward selection.
