The Bachelor of Textile Design at the University of Sindh is an applied design degree within the Faculty of Arts in Jamshoro. The official Admissions 2027 advertisement confirms it as a first-semester bachelor programme.

Program Overview

Textile design covers the creation of printed, woven and embroidered fabric: surface pattern, colour theory, fibre and weave structures, dyeing and printing techniques, and the use of design software. Sindh has a deep textile tradition, from ajrak block printing to Sindhi embroidery, and a programme based in Jamshoro naturally draws on that heritage while teaching commercial production methods. It fits students who enjoy pattern, colour and hands-on craft and who want to work in fashion, home textiles or export manufacturing.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates with an intermediate certificate in any group may apply; refer to the prospectus for the minimum marks and quota rules. Like the other design degrees, Textile Design is listed in the advertisement as requiring a separate aptitude test, which usually assesses drawing and visual sense.

Per the Admissions 2027 advertisement, a minimum of 40% in the university’s own pre-entry test is compulsory for bachelor-level admission, and those awaiting HSC-II results can register (Source: Admissions 2027 advertisement).

Admission Process

There is no separate departmental application for Bachelor of Textile Design; everything goes through the Sindh University admission portal. The 2027 advertisement lists online registration from 10 August to 11 September 2026, a Rs. 3,000 processing fee payable through HBL or 1-Bill, and pre-entry test dates of 4 and 11 October 2026 (Source: advertisement_2027.pdf). After the merit list is displayed, selected applicants pay the admission fee within the deadline and deliver the printed form and original transcripts to the Directorate of Admissions in Jamshoro.

Our University of Sindh Undergraduate Admissions 2026-27 record tracks the schedule, and the University of Sindh entry test page explains the pre-entry test format.

Fee Structure

Fees for this programme are set by the university and listed on the Fees Structure page and in the prospectus (Prospectus 2026). We do not quote a semester figure here because it could not be verified from the official page at the time of writing; the Rs. 3,000 processing fee stated in the 2027 advertisement is the only confirmed amount. Check the official website before budgeting.

Career Scope in Pakistan

Pakistan’s textile sector is its largest export industry, so textile designers find work in mills and apparel houses in Karachi, Faisalabad and Lahore, as well as in home-furnishing brands, fashion labels and craft-development organisations. Graduates also build independent studios, work with artisan cooperatives in interior Sindh, or move into merchandising and product development roles.
