ITU’s BS Artificial Intelligence (BSAI) is a four-year undergraduate program offered by the Information Technology University in Lahore. It was launched to give students a dedicated AI pathway alongside the established BSCS, and it draws on a department of roughly eight AI faculty members according to the official page.

Program Overview

Where a general computer science degree spends its upper years on systems and software engineering, the BSAI track at ITU concentrates on the mathematics and algorithms behind intelligent systems: linear algebra, probability and statistics, machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, natural language processing and reinforcement learning, with a compulsory final year project that requires at least 90 passed credit hours first. The program is a good fit for students who like mathematics as much as coding and who want to work on data-driven products, research or automation rather than purely application development.

Eligibility Criteria

ITU requires at least 50% marks in both Matriculation and Intermediate (or equivalent), with the Intermediate in an eligible group such as Pre-Engineering, Pre-Medical or ICS. Candidates without Mathematics at Intermediate are admitted on the condition that they pass two foundation Mathematics courses (6 credit hours) in the first year. The ITU Admission Test (minimum 50%) is mandatory unless exempted by SAT I with 550 or above in Math and EBRW (taken within the last two years, college code 7537) or a USAT-CS/USAT-E/USAT-GS score of at least 50% taken within the last year. Career Scope in Pakistan

Demand for AI skills in Pakistan is concentrated in Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad, where software exporters, e-commerce and fintech companies, and government data initiatives such as those run with the Punjab Information Technology Board hire machine learning engineers, data scientists, computer vision developers and MLOps engineers. ITU’s research culture also means a meaningful share of BSAI graduates continue to postgraduate study. Freelance and remote AI work for international clients is another realistic route for graduates with a strong project portfolio.
