The NUST university profile offers BS Artificial Intelligence as a four-year undergraduate degree through SEECS at the H-12 campus in Islamabad, and since Fall 2024 also at the NUST Balochistan Campus in Quetta. It is one of a small number of dedicated AI bachelor degrees offered by a public-sector university in Pakistan.

Program Overview

Where a general computing degree introduces artificial intelligence late, this programme builds the full AI stack from the first year: programming, linear algebra, probability and statistics, then machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision and knowledge representation, together with the systems courses needed to deploy models. It suits students who are comfortable with mathematics and want to work on data-driven and intelligent systems rather than conventional application development. Note that NUST separately offers BS Robotics and Artificial Intelligence at SMME and CoEME, which is a different, hardware-leaning programme.

Admission Process

  1. Register on the NUST UG admissions portal and choose a NET series for the Computing discipline.
  2. Pay the processing fee and sit the computer-based NET at Islamabad or Quetta (or a paper-based sitting at Karachi or Gilgit).
  3. Optionally re-attempt in a later series; only the best score is counted.
  4. Fill in programme preferences, placing BS AI at SEECS or NBC in order of choice.

Admission is through the NUST Entry Test (NET), a computer-based test held at the H-12 campus in Islamabad and at NBC Quetta (paper-based sittings are held in Karachi and Gilgit). For the Fall 2027 intake the official portal lists NET Series 1 registration from 4 October to 14 November 2026 with tests starting 17 November 2026, followed by further series through mid-2027; candidates may sit more than once and the best score counts. Applicants with ACT or SAT scores can also apply on that basis. Source: https://ugadmissions.nust.edu.pk/. Our NUST entry test (NET) page explains the test format.

Fee Structure

According to the official “Undergraduate Financial Matters” page for session 2026-27, the tuition fee for Engineering, Computing, Natural Sciences and Applied Sciences programmes is Rs. 216,750 per semester for national students, with a one-time non-refundable admission processing fee of Rs. 35,000, a refundable security deposit of Rs. 10,000 and miscellaneous charges of Rs. 5,000 per semester for sports, library, health and IT. Career Scope in Pakistan

Demand for machine learning engineers, data scientists and AI developers in Pakistan has grown with fintech, e-commerce, telecom analytics and export software companies, and a specialised AI degree from NUST is a strong signal to these employers. Graduates also move into research positions, government digital-transformation projects and remote work for foreign firms. Because the field changes quickly, the realistic path is to pair the degree with hands-on projects and competitions during the four years.
