Explore BS Data Science – National University of Sciences and Technology at National University of Sciences and Technology, including duration, eligibility and connected admission resources.
Eligibility requirements
NUST lists BS Data Science among its computing programmes. Current computing-programme eligibility is published on the official NUST admissions website.
BS Data Science at the NUST profile (National University of Sciences and Technology) is a four-year undergraduate degree taught by the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (SEECS) at the H-12 campus in Islamabad. Unlike BS Computer Science and BS AI, which NUST also runs at its Quetta campus, the official programme list shows Data Science at SEECS Islamabad only.
Program Overview
Data science sits at the meeting point of statistics, programming and domain knowledge. The degree trains students to collect, clean and store large datasets, to model them with statistical and machine learning methods, and to communicate results through visualisation and reporting. Expect a heavier dose of probability, linear algebra, statistical inference and database systems than in a general computing degree, alongside Python-based analytics, big-data tools and a capstone project. It suits students who like working with numbers and evidence as much as with code, and who want a career in analytics, machine learning or research.

Admission Process
- Register on the NUST undergraduate portal at ugadmissions.nust.edu.pk and pick a NET series under the Computing discipline.
- Pay the NET processing fee and choose a computer-based test slot at Islamabad or Quetta (paper-based sittings run in Karachi and Gilgit).
- Sit NET; you may attempt more than one series and the best score is used.
- Submit programme preferences after the last series closes, listing BS Data Science at SEECS where you want it.
- Watch the merit lists on the portal, then pay the fee and complete document verification at SEECS if selected.
For the Fall 2027 intake the portal lists NET Series 1 registration from 4 October to 14 November 2026 with tests from 17 November 2026, followed by further series into mid-2027. SAT or ACT scores are an alternative route. Source: https://ugadmissions.nust.edu.pk/. NET-based merit is explained on the official merit criteria page and on our NUST entry test (NET) page.
Fee Structure
The official Undergraduate Financial Matters page for 2026-27 gives one tuition rate for Engineering, Computing, Natural Sciences and Applied Sciences programmes: Rs. 216,750 per semester for Pakistani students. Add a one-time admission processing fee of Rs. 35,000, a refundable security deposit of Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 5,000 per semester in miscellaneous charges. NUST notes that fees may be revised. Career Scope in Pakistan
Banks, telecom operators, e-commerce platforms and fintech start-ups in Pakistan now run analytics and data engineering teams, and public-sector bodies such as NADRA and provincial IT boards also hire data specialists. A SEECS data science graduate can move into roles as a data analyst, data engineer, machine learning engineer or business intelligence developer, or continue to MS study. Remote analytics work for overseas clients is another realistic path for graduates with strong Python, SQL and statistics skills.
