Bolan University of Medical and Health Sciences

Bolan University of Medical and Health Sciences (BUMHS) is Balochistan’s public medical university, based on Brewery Road in Quetta. It was created under the BUMHS Act No. VII of 2017 and took over Bolan Medical College, which has trained the province’s doctors since the 1970s (Source: https://bumhs.edu.pk). BUMHS awards MBBS and BDS degrees, runs a College of Physical Therapy, admits nursing students and acts as the provincial MDCAT admitting authority for Balochistan. Clinical teaching takes place in the attached teaching hospitals in Quetta, including the Bolan Medical Complex and Sandeman Provincial Hospital, and the university conducts the professional examinations for its constituent and affiliated colleges. MBBS is divided into five professional examinations and BDS into four, following the PMDC curriculum, while DPT runs over ten semesters under HEC’s physiotherapy framework.

MBBS and BDS admission follows the national PMDC framework: candidates sit the MDCAT, then apply to BUMHS, which prepares the provincial merit and placement list for public medical and dental colleges in Balochistan.
