Admission Process

NUMS runs two tracks. MBBS/BDS admissions go through the NUMS MDCAT and a centralised admission portal; for the 2026-27 session the MDCAT is closed and centralised admissions are listed on the official admissions page. BS programs admit in both Fall and Spring: for Fall 2026 registration opened on 30 June 2026, closed on 6 August, the online NUMS admission test was held on 12 August, merit lists appeared on 24 August and classes began on 17 September. The processing fee is Rs. 2,500, paid at any HBL branch, covering all programs applied for; only online applications are accepted. Entry Test and Merit

For BS programs NUMS accepts any one of: NUMS MDCAT, NTS NAT (valid one year), HEC USAT (valid one year) or the online NUMS Admission Test. Merit is Test 50% + HSSC 40% + SSC 10%. Fee Structure

NUMS publishes an undergraduate fee structure PDF for session 2026 on its website, but figures were not visible on the pages we verified — check the official fee structure page. MBBS/BDS fees are set by each constituent or affiliated college.

Each college sets its own tuition for MBBS and BDS, with public-sector seats at Army Medical College priced differently from private-sector seats at affiliated CMH colleges; the centralised admission notice carries the applicable fee tables for the session. Hostel charges are also college-specific.

Scholarships and Financial Aid

NUMS lists a scholarships section on its website and participates in HEC need-based and Ehsaas schemes through its student affairs office; specific internal awards should be confirmed with the university. See the scholarships archive.

NUMS also runs an in-house Student Affairs office that handles fee concessions and HEC-routed need-based aid, and students in allied health programs are eligible for the same schemes as those in biosciences.

Campuses

The NUMS campus is at The Mall, Rawalpindi, with the Khalid Hussain Institute of Nutrition and Allied Medical Sciences (KHINAMS) in Islamabad hosting the nutrition programs. MBBS/BDS teaching takes place at Army Medical College and the CMH medical and dental colleges across the country. See the campuses archive.

Why Students Choose NUMS

NUMS attracts students who want a medical-university environment without necessarily doing MBBS — its allied health, nutrition and biosciences degrees are taught alongside clinical faculties. The flexible test options (NAT, USAT or NUMS’s own) also make the BS route accessible. Compare with Dow University of Health Sciences.
