GIKI Entry Test 2026-27
About This Entry Test
The GIKI Admission Test is the gateway to every undergraduate program at the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute. It is the institute’s own test, held once a year in several cities, and it dominates the merit calculation. This guide collects what GIKI publishes officially and what you should verify. For the institute overview see the GIKI university profile.
Which Test Is Required
- All BS engineering and computing programs: GIKI Admission Test (own test). ECAT, NET, ETEA or NTS scores are not used.
- Candidates with SAT/foreign qualifications should check the official admission policy for any alternative route — none is described on the public undergraduate page.

Eligibility
- FSc Pre-Engineering (or equivalent such as A-Level/HSSC with Physics and Mathematics); some programs also require Chemistry at intermediate level.
- The official page states admission is decided on earlier educational achievements and the test score; the minimum percentage is not stated on the public page — check the official admission policy.
- No arbitrary age limit; no quota or reserved seats.
Registration and Fee
- Create an account at https://admissions.giki.edu.pk/ when the window opens (April in 2025).
- Fill in the application, upload documents and choose a test city.
- Pay the processing fee by the method shown on the portal (amount not published — check the official website).
- Download the admit card and appear on the assigned date.
Schedule
The last fully published cycle ran: applications 13 April – 16 June 2025; test 9–13 July 2025; results 23 July 2025; classes 1 September 2025. The 2026 test was held in early July 2026 according to the institute’s announcements, and the 2027 cycle has not yet been posted. Expect a similar April–July timeline and check the official website.
Merit Formula
GIKI does not publish a percentage split on its undergraduate page; it states only that merit is based on prior academic achievement plus the admission test. Third-party guides describe the test as carrying the large majority of the weight, which is consistent with the institute’s own emphasis, but treat any exact figure as unofficial.
Preparation Tips
- Master FSc Physics and Mathematics at concept level — the test rewards understanding, not memorised numericals.
- Work through past ECAT and NET papers for speed; the style is similar even though the test is different.
- Download the official syllabus PDF from the GIKI website and tick off every topic.
- Practise English vocabulary and grammar MCQs; they are easy marks if prepared.
- Simulate full-length timed tests in the final month and review every wrong answer.
