Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute (GIKI)

The Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology (GIK Institute, or GIKI) is a private, residential engineering university at Topi in District Swabi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Founded in 1993 by the Society for the Promotion of Engineering Sciences and Technology in Pakistan under the patronage of the late President Ghulam Ishaq Khan, it is widely regarded as one of the country’s most selective engineering schools. GIKI is known for a fully residential campus, a single annual merit-only intake, and an admission test that carries most of the weight in selection.

Admission Process

There is one undergraduate intake per year, for the session starting in late August or September. The official undergraduate admissions page describes the sequence (2025 cycle dates shown as the latest published):

Apply online at admissions.giki.edu.pk during the application window (13 April – 16 June in 2025).
Submit financial assistance documents if applying for aid (deadline 20 June in 2025).
Sit the GIKI admission test in one of several cities (9–13 July in 2025).
Result and merit list (23 July in 2025), followed by fee payment and joining/orientation (30–31 August) and classes (1 September).

Entry Test and Merit

The GIKI Admission Test is the institute’s own MCQ test based on intermediate-level Physics and Mathematics (English is also assessed). The official page states that selection is decided on the candidate’s earlier academic record and the test score, with no quotas, reserved seats or admission by donation. Fee Structure

GIKI does not publish a fee table on its public admissions pages; the fee schedule is released with the admission offer and through the portal. Check the official website or email ugadmissions@giki.edu.pk for the current semester fee, hostel and mess charges.

Scholarships and Financial Aid

GIKI runs a financial assistance program for admitted students; the official page sets a separate deadline for financial assistance documents alongside the application deadline.

Campuses

GIKI has a single residential campus at Topi (Swabi), with student hostels including a girls’ hostel for 120 students. Admission tests are conducted in multiple cities, but all teaching is on the Topi campus. See the campuses archive.
