KMU Entry Test 2026-27

Khyber Medical University fills every undergraduate BS seat through its own entrance exam, the KMU Common Admission Test (KMU-CAT). It is separate from MDCAT, which governs MBBS and BDS seats, and separate from ETEA. This page sets out which programs need the KMU-CAT, the official aggregate formula, eligibility and the application steps for 2026-27. Which Test Is Required

• All KMU BS programs — nursing, Pharm-D, DPT, allied health technologies, public health, nutrition, clinical psychology and rehabilitation sciences: KMU-CAT, mandatory.
• MBBS and BDS at KMU-affiliated medical and dental colleges: MDCAT under PMDC rules, not the KMU-CAT.
• No ETEA, NTS NAT or HEC USAT score is accepted in place of the KMU-CAT.
• Candidates from other provinces sit the KMU-CAT on a separately specified date.

Test Pattern

The admissions portal confirms the test is compulsory and carries 40 percent weight, but the pages reviewed do not publish the paper format. The prospectus or test notice on bsadmissions.kmu.edu.pk should be consulted for the current pattern.

Eligibility

• BS programs: FSc Pre-Medical or equivalent with at least 50 percent marks.
• Doctor of Physical Therapy: FSc Pre-Medical or equivalent with at least 60 percent marks.
• BS Prosthetics and Orthotics also accepts FSc Pre-Engineering.
• Diploma holders need an IBCC equivalence certificate.
• In-service candidates: minimum two years in a government hospital or health institution, applying through proper channel.

Registration and Fee

Schedule

The application window for 2026-27 has closed. For 2027-28 expect forms around June and the test after the FSc result — confirm on the official website.

Preparation Tips

• Revise Biology, Chemistry and Physics from the FSc syllabus first; KMU-CAT candidates are Pre-Medical and the test reflects that base.
• Use MDCAT-style MCQ practice sets for timing, but check the official KMU notice for the exact subject split before over-investing in any one area.
• Rank your program choices realistically: DPT needs 60 percent in FSc and typically closes at a higher aggregate than allied health technologies.
• Keep the paid challan and portal login details; payment verification takes up to 72 hours and late uploads are rejected.
• If you are from outside Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, note the separate test date for other-province candidates.
