KEMU Entry Test 2026-27

About This Entry Test

Getting into King Edward Medical University (KEMU) Lahore depends on one national test: MDCAT. Whether you are aiming for MBBS through the Punjab central admission or for KEMU’s own Allied Health Sciences and DPT programmes, the MDCAT score is the heaviest single component of your merit. This page explains who conducts the test, what the eligibility rules are, and how the university converts marks into an aggregate. It complements the KEMU profile and the KEMU admissions 2026-27 record.

Which Test Is Required

  • MBBS: MDCAT (PM&DC). Admission is centralised through the University of Health Sciences (UHS) Lahore for all public medical colleges in Punjab; KEMU does not hold a separate MBBS test.
  • Allied Health Sciences (B.Sc Hons) and DPT: MDCAT. KEMU uses the latest MDCAT result in its own merit formula.
  • Allied Vision Sciences: MDCAT (or SAT-II for overseas seats).
  • Post RN BSN: KEMU’s own entrance examination of 100 MCQs in 180 minutes, 100 marks, 50% to pass, with admission by merit.

Test Pattern

MDCAT is set by PM&DC and administered in Punjab by UHS. In 2026 it was held on 20 September 2026 after being rescheduled from 16 August 2026 (Source: PM&DC press release). The council publishes the number of questions, subject split, duration and marking rules each year on mdcat.pmdc.pk; confirm the figures there before you plan your revision.

Eligibility

  • MBBS: FSc Pre-Medical (or equivalent certified by IBCC) with the minimum percentage fixed in the UHS admission policy, plus a passing MDCAT as defined by PM&DC and Punjab domicile for provincial seats.
  • AHS: at least 60% in Matric and 65% in FSc Pre-Medical, a valid passing MDCAT, Punjab domicile. One reserved seat each for AJK, Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan.
  • DPT: at least 60% in Matric, 60% in FSc Pre-Medical and 60% in the latest MDCAT, Punjab residents.
  • AVS: 60% in Matric and FSc Pre-Medical, 60% in MDCAT, and under 20 years of age at application.

Registration and Fee

MDCAT registration is done online on the PM&DC portal (https://mdcat.pmdc.pk) during a window announced each summer; the 2026 registration deadline was extended by public notice. The registration fee is stated in the PM&DC notice — check the official website. The KEMU AHS/DPT application form and its processing fee are advertised separately on kemu.edu.pk/admissions.

Schedule

MDCAT 2026: 20 September 2026 (verified). UHS MBBS/BDS applications for 2026-27 opened in mid-October 2026 according to affiliated college notices. KEMU’s AHS and DPT admissions typically open in October–November with merit lists through to the following spring (the 2026-29 cycle ran to its 21st and final merit list in May 2026). For exact 2026-27 dates check the official website.

Merit Formula

AHS, DPT and AVS at KEMU: (Matric % × 0.10) + (FSc % × 0.45) + (MDCAT % × 0.45). Source: https://kemu.edu.pk/undergraduates-admissions/. The MBBS formula is published by UHS in the Admission Policy MBBS/BDS 2026-27; check that document for the current weightages.

Preparation Tips

  • Work from the PM&DC MDCAT syllabus rather than a single board textbook; questions are mapped to its learning outcomes.
  • Biology and Chemistry carry the largest share of questions, so schedule them for daily practice and keep Physics for numerical drills.
  • Attempt timed full-length mock tests every week in the last two months and review every wrong answer.
  • Do not ignore English and Logical Reasoning — they are short sections but easy marks when your aggregate is decided by decimals.
  • Keep your Matric and FSc marks sheets, domicile and CNIC scanned and ready; UHS and KEMU both reject incomplete uploads.
