RMU Entry Test 2026-27

Rawalpindi Medical University (RMU) does not set its own undergraduate entrance test for MBBS. Like every public medical college in Punjab, its MBBS seats are filled by the University of Health Sciences from MDCAT merit, and its Allied Health Sciences intake also relies on MDCAT. This page explains what that means in practice for a 2026-27 applicant, including the dates that have already passed and what remains open. Which Test Is Required

• MBBS: MDCAT (PM&DC), conducted in Punjab by UHS; centralised admission through the UHS public sector portal.
• Allied Health Sciences (BS): MDCAT, applied through RMU’s own admission notice.
• BS Nursing: RMU admission on academic merit and/or a test as specified in its notice — check the official website.
• Postgraduate MS/MD: UHS PGET and the RMU residency induction process.

Test Pattern

PM&DC publishes the MDCAT blueprint each year. MDCAT 2026 was held on 20 September 2026 after rescheduling from 16 August (Source: PM&DC press release). The official 2026 question split is on https://mdcat.pmdc.pk.

Eligibility

• MBBS: FSc Pre-Medical or IBCC-equivalent, MDCAT 2026 pass, Punjab domicile for provincial seats; minimum percentages as per the UHS policy 2026-27.
• AHS: FSc Pre-Medical and a valid MDCAT; minimum percentages in the RMU prospectus — check the official website.
• BS Nursing: FSc Pre-Medical; age and other conditions as per the RMU nursing notice.

Registration and Fee

MDCAT registration: PM&DC portal, fee as per the PM&DC notice (check the official website). UHS MBBS application: publicmbbs.uhs.edu.pk, processing fee as shown on the portal. RMU AHS/nursing application: rmur.edu.pk/admissions, fee as per the advertisement.

Schedule

MDCAT 2026: 20 September 2026 (verified). UHS MBBS/BDS portal: opened mid-October 2026 (RMU notice dated 16 October 2026). RMU AHS and nursing: usually advertised in the autumn after MDCAT results — check the official website for 2026-27 dates.

Merit Formula

MBBS: as defined by UHS in the Admission Policy 2026-27. AHS and BS Nursing: as per the RMU prospectus — check the official website. (For comparison, KEMU publishes Matric 10% / FSc 45% / MDCAT 45% for its allied health programmes.)

Preparation Tips

• Start from the PM&DC syllabus and cross-check each chapter of your Punjab board textbooks against it.
• Allocate the most practice to Biology, then Chemistry; these decide most of the aggregate.
• Simulate the real sitting time with a printed answer sheet to build stamina.
• Revise English grammar and reasoning in short daily sessions rather than last-minute cramming.
• After the result, decide your UHS college preference order before the portal opens — many applicants lose seats by ranking poorly.
