BS Computer Science at COMSATS University Islamabad profile (CUI) is a four-year, eight-semester degree of at least 133 credit hours run by the Department of Computer Science. It is CUI’s flagship programme and is available at the Islamabad, Lahore, Abbottabad, Wah, Attock, Sahiwal and Vehari campuses, which makes it one of the most accessible computing degrees in Punjab, KP and the federal capital.

Program Overview

The curriculum follows the HEC computing framework: programming fundamentals and object-oriented programming, data structures and algorithms, discrete mathematics, digital logic and computer architecture, operating systems, databases, software engineering, computer networks, artificial intelligence and a two-semester final year project, with electives in areas such as web and mobile development, machine learning and cyber security. CUI’s computer science departments are among the largest in the country by enrolment, so the degree suits students who want a broad, industry-oriented foundation with many campus choices rather than a narrow specialisation.

Career Scope in Pakistan

A CUI computer science graduate is a familiar hire for software houses in Islamabad, Lahore and Rawalpindi, for telecom and banking IT departments and for export-focused development firms. Because the degree is offered in smaller cities too, many graduates also start freelancing or join regional software companies in Sahiwal, Vehari, Abbottabad and Wah. Further study (MS CS at CUI or elsewhere) and teaching are common routes as well.
