BS Data Science at COMSATS University Islamabad profile is a four-year, eight-semester programme of at least 133 credit hours, including a six-credit project, offered by the Department of Computer Science. The Undergraduate Guide lists it at the Islamabad, Lahore, Wah and Attock campuses, so students in central and northern Punjab have more than one option.

Program Overview

The programme combines a computing core (programming, data structures, databases, operating systems) with a statistics spine: probability, inferential statistics, linear algebra and regression, followed by data mining, machine learning, big-data platforms, data visualisation and data warehousing. The six-credit final project typically asks students to take a real dataset from a business, health or public-sector partner through the full pipeline. It suits students who are comfortable with mathematics and curious about turning raw records into decisions, and who want a degree that is recognised by both analytics teams and MS admissions committees.

Career Scope in Pakistan

Data science graduates in Pakistan find work as data analysts, BI developers, data engineers and junior machine learning engineers in banks, telecom companies, ride-hailing and e-commerce platforms, consultancies and software exporters. Public-sector statistics and planning departments are a slower but steady employer. The degree also transfers well to MS Data Science or Statistics programmes at home and abroad, and the skills are in demand on freelancing platforms for dashboarding and analytics work.
