Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences Jamshoro

LUMHS Jamshoro profile: runs Sindh central MBBS/BDS admission, offers DPT, Pharm-D, nursing and BS allied health; fees, merit.

Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS) Jamshoro is a public sector university in Sindh and the oldest medical institution in the province: it began as Liaquat Medical College (originally in Karachi, then Hyderabad/Jamshoro) in 1951 and was chartered as a university in 2001. LUMHS matters to every Sindh pre-medical student for a second reason — it is the university appointed by the Government of Sindh to run the centralised MBBS/BDS admission for public sector medical and dental colleges across the province. On its own campuses it teaches MBBS, BDS, DPT, Pharm-D, nursing, biomedical engineering and a long list of BS allied health degrees. This profile covers both roles. See the LUMHS entry test page and the LUMHS admissions 2026-27 record.

Admission Process

  1. MBBS/BDS (public colleges of Sindh): LUMHS issues the province-wide notice, approved by the Chief Minister of Sindh. Candidates with a Sindh domicile and PRC apply through the LUMHS admission portal, and seats are allotted to colleges by district tagging and merit. Under the 2024-25 policy the processing fee was Rs 2,500 plus a TCS form charge of Rs 400; the 2026-27 fee should be confirmed on the official website.
  2. MBBS/BDS (private colleges of Sindh): a parallel LUMHS notice; applications uploaded on the LUMHS website with a bank voucher.
  3. BS degree programmes, DPT, Pharm-D and nursing: LUMHS runs its own entry test and online application, typically in November–January, with a Rs 5,000 non-refundable entry test and processing fee (2024-25 figure — Source: https://admission.lumhs.edu.pk/).

Entry Test and Merit

MDCAT (PM&DC) is mandatory for MBBS/BDS. The 2024-25 LUMHS policy set merit as Matric 10%, HSSC 40%, MDCAT 50%, with HSSC minimum 60% and MDCAT minimum 55% for MBBS and 50% for BDS (Source: https://lumhs.edu.pk/admissions/Admission-Policy2024-25.pdf). Confirm the 2026-27 figures on the official website. BS programmes use a LUMHS entry test. Details on the LUMHS entry test page.

Why Students Choose LUMHS

LUMHS is the parent of Sindh’s public medical admission system, so interior Sindh students meet it first through the central MBBS form. Its Jamshoro campus is the largest public health sciences campus outside Karachi, and its allied health and DPT degrees offer lower-cost public sector options with hostel facilities. We do not cite rankings unless official.
