BSc Computer Science – University of Engineering and Technology Lahore

B.Sc. Computer Science at the UET Lahore profile is a four-year undergraduate degree offered by the Department of Computer Science in Lahore and replicated at the KSK, Faisalabad, RCET Gujranwala and Narowal campuses. UET titles it B.Sc. rather than BS, but it is a standard HEC-recognised computing degree.

Program Overview

The programme covers programming, data structures and algorithms, computer organisation, operating systems, databases, networks, software engineering and theory of computation, with senior electives drawn from UET’s newer AI, data science and cyber security tracks. Because it sits inside an engineering university, the curriculum leans towards mathematics and systems rather than business applications, which suits FSc and ICS students who like problem solving and want options in both software development and postgraduate research.

Eligibility Criteria

The prospectus requires FSc Pre-Engineering, ICS or an equivalent with at least 60% in the relevant subjects for computer science and computer engineering, and appearance in ECAT 2026 with the matching subject combination; business and some science programmes are exempt from ECAT but computer science is treated as an ECAT programme. Admission Process

1. Register for ECAT at ecat.uet.edu.pk (for Fall 2026 the application closed 13 June 2026 and the test ran 16-21 June).
2. Create an account on admission.uet.edu.pk once applications open (8 June 2026 for Fall 2026) and pay the Rs. 3,000 application fee by challan; one fee covers multiple programme choices.
3. Enter academic details and rank your programme and campus preferences; the last date for Fall 2026 was 15/16 July 2026, with a preference-change window on 12-14 July (Rs. 1,500).
4. Check the merit lists on the portal; selected candidates pay first-semester dues (due 7 September 2026 for Fall 2026) and verify documents.
5. Leftover-seat and walk-in rounds follow for unfilled seats (Rs. 1,500 for existing applicants, Rs. 3,000 for new ones).

Merit for ECAT-based programmes is calculated as ECAT 33%, FSc Part-I (first year) marks 50% and Matric 17%; O/A Level and DAE candidates use ECAT 33% and academic marks 67%. Hafiz-e-Quran candidates can earn up to 20 bonus marks after an oral test and sportspersons up to 10. Fee Structure

The official Fall 2026 fee schedule applies to all undergraduate programmes: in the first semester a subsidised-category student pays an admission fee of Rs. 54,050 plus tuition of Rs. 56,290, rising each year to Rs. 105,060 in the eighth semester, for a total of about Rs. 713,920 over eight semesters; the partially subsidised category totals about Rs. 1,085,430. Facilities charges are Rs. 7,220 per semester for day scholars and Rs. 3,610 for hostel residents, with a one-time hostel admission fee of Rs. 2,810. Career Scope in Pakistan

UET computer science graduates work in Lahore’s software houses, in fintech and telecom companies, in the Punjab government’s digital projects and increasingly in remote roles for overseas firms. The engineering-college setting also opens doors to embedded and systems software jobs in industry. Freelancing and start-ups are realistic options for graduates with strong portfolios.
