The University of Health Sciences (UHS) Lahore is a public sector university established by the Government of Punjab in 2002 to act as the examining and affiliating body for medical, dental, nursing and allied health education across the province. Unlike a conventional campus university, UHS’s biggest role is administrative: it conducts MDCAT in Punjab on behalf of PM&DC, runs the centralised admission to every public sector medical and dental college in Punjab, and sets the admission policy that colleges such as KEMU, Nishtar and RMU follow. Alongside that, UHS teaches its own on-campus undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in basic and allied health sciences at its Khayaban-e-Jamia Punjab campus. This profile separates those two roles so students know which UHS page applies to them. The test is covered on the UHS entry test page and the current cycle on the UHS admissions 2026-27 record.

Faculties and Undergraduate Programs
UHS offers on-campus undergraduate programmes under the banner “On-Campus Undergraduate Programmes”, admitted each Fall through its own portal. The Fall 2026 cycle has already published a second and third selection list. The official notice does not list programme names as text, so confirm the current list on the website; historically these have been BS degrees in basic and allied health disciplines. Separately, UHS is the affiliating university for:
- MBBS and BDS at all public sector medical and dental colleges of Punjab (centralised admission)
- MBBS and BDS at private medical and dental colleges affiliated with UHS
- Nursing, pharmacy and allied health degrees taught at affiliated institutions
- Postgraduate MS/MD/MPhil/PhD training, with entry through the UHS Postgraduate Entrance Test (PGET)

Admission Process
- MBBS/BDS (public colleges): sit MDCAT, wait for the result on results.uhs.edu.pk, then submit one online application on the public MBBS/BDS portal listing colleges in order of preference. UHS prepares the provincial merit list and allots seats; colleges only complete enrolment.
- MBBS/BDS (private colleges): a separate UHS notice and application window, with colleges admitting from the UHS-verified pool.
- UHS on-campus undergraduate programmes: apply on portals.uhs.edu.pk/ug during the Fall window, download the admittance card, and follow the selection lists.
The processing fee for each route is stated in the relevant notice — check the official website.
Entry Test and Merit
MDCAT is the test for MBBS and BDS. MDCAT 2026 was held on 20 September 2026 and UHS has published the result and a recount/review portal. The merit formula for MBBS/BDS is defined in the Admission Policy MBBS/BDS Session 2026-27, which is a scanned PDF; check that document for the exact weightages. Full detail on the UHS entry test page.
Fee Structure
UHS publishes tuition for public MBBS/BDS colleges in the annual prospectus and sets its own on-campus fees in programme notices. No fee amounts appear as text on the UHS website — check the official website and the prospectus PDF before budgeting.
Scholarships and Financial Aid
Scholarship support for students at public medical colleges in Punjab is generally administered by the colleges and the Punjab Government (fee waivers, Punjab Educational Endowment Fund, HEC Need Based). UHS itself does not list a scholarship scheme on its public notices page; check the official website. See the scholarships archive for provincial schemes.
Campuses
UHS operates from a single campus on Khayaban-e-Jamia Punjab, Lahore. Its reach is through affiliated colleges across every division of Punjab rather than through sub-campuses.
Why Students Choose UHS
Most students never “choose” UHS — it chooses the college for them, because every Punjab public MBBS and BDS seat is allotted through its merit list. Its on-campus BS programmes attract pre-medical students who want a research-oriented public sector degree in Lahore at a lower cost than private colleges. Its transparent, published merit lists are its strongest reputation point.
