BS Computer Science – University of Engineering and Technology Lahore

BS Computer Science at the University of Engineering and Technology Lahore profile (UET) is a four-year undergraduate degree run by the Department of Computer Science under the Faculty of Electrical Engineering on the GT Road campus in Lahore. UET formally labels the degree B.Sc. Computer Science on its portal; this page covers the same programme, which is also taught at the KSK, Faisalabad, Rachna College and Narowal campuses.

Program Overview

Computer science at UET is taught inside Pakistan’s oldest engineering university, so the course plan is mathematics-heavy: calculus and linear algebra, discrete structures, programming and data structures, computer organisation, operating systems, databases, networks, software engineering, compiler construction and theory of computation, with final-year electives in machine learning, data science and cyber security. The department is also home to MS and PhD research, which gives undergraduates access to labs and supervisors. It suits FSc Pre-Engineering and ICS students who enjoy rigorous problem solving and want flexibility between software jobs and graduate study.

Eligibility Criteria

Per the UG Prospectus 2026, applicants need FSc Pre-Engineering, ICS or an equivalent qualification with at least 60% marks in the relevant subjects, and must have appeared in ECAT 2026 with the matching subject combination; computer science is treated as an ECAT-based programme even though it is not an engineering degree. Admission Process

1. Register for ECAT at ecat.uet.edu.pk (for Fall 2026 registration closed 13 June and the test ran 16-21 June 2026, result 30 June).
2. Open an account on admission.uet.edu.pk once the cycle opens (8 June 2026 for Fall 2026) and pay the Rs. 3,000 application fee.
3. Enter academic details and rank programme-campus preferences; the Fall 2026 deadline was mid-July with a paid preference-change window.
4. Check merit lists; selected candidates paid first-semester dues by 7 September 2026.
5. Unfilled seats are offered through leftover-seat and walk-in rounds.

Merit for ECAT-based programmes is ECAT 33%, FSc Part-I 50% and Matric 17% (O/A Level and DAE: ECAT 33%, academics 67%), with up to 20 bonus marks for Hafiz-e-Quran and 10 for sportspersons. Fee Structure

The Fall 2026 fee schedule applies one scale to all undergraduate programmes. A subsidised-category student pays a Rs. 54,050 admission fee plus Rs. 56,290 tuition in the first semester, rising to Rs. 105,060 by the eighth semester, roughly Rs. 713,920 over the degree; the partially subsidised category totals about Rs. 1,085,430. Career Scope in Pakistan

UET’s name opens doors in Lahore’s software houses, in fintech and telecom engineering teams, in the Punjab government’s digital projects and in embedded and industrial software firms that value an engineering-college background. Graduates also do well in MS admissions abroad and in remote development roles for overseas clients. As elsewhere, internships and a project portfolio matter as much as the degree for the first job.
